18+ Leaving Care Accommodation

Athena Housing and Support have a large stock of both solo and multi-occupancy properties that they are able to offer to care leavers ages 18+. Young people under the age of 18 years old will not be considered for these due to regulatory requirements. The properties are national but the majority of them are located within Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Hertfordshire. The properties offered are of high quality and inclusive in the accommodation costs are;

• All Utility bills inclusive of wifi, TV licence and council tax.

• 24/7 on call number to a support worker for emergencies

• Weekly welfare check with the young person

• Weekly health and safety check on the property

In addition to the above, bespoke one to one support hours can be added to the young persons package based on their needs. The support hours could be used for many aspects of independent living such as, for example, for emotional support as we know how difficult the transition can be or support with practical tasks such as bidding for housing, budgeting or applying for college.

The solo occupancy flats will consist of a one bedroom flat or cluster house, if possible in the preferred location and the young person will have sole use of bathroom and kitchen. The shared occupancy homes range from a two bedroom shared home to a 6 bedroom house of multiple occupancy (HMO). In the shared homes the young person will share a kitchen with the other residents in the home and may have to share a bathroom too. Some of our shared homes do have en-suites and availability can be clarified at time of request.

 

All of the young people's needs will be risk assessed before they are placed and matching is completed with regards to location, young persons needs and risks and if applicable in regards to other young people currently in the placement. All of our provision locations are risk assessed regularly and we have a statement of purpose available on request.
