Accommodation

Athena offers children and young people housing; providing accommodation, and 24 hour support, 365 days a year. With qualified care and support workers, with a dedicated key worker, we provide care and support in specific areas including children's homes, care leavers, asylum seeking children, young offenders, complex mental health, and young people at risk of homelessness.

Athena has access to accommodation across a number of regions and we realise that one of the central elements of providing a quality caring environment is promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and with this in mind we know the location in vital. In ensuring this, Athena will risk assess every area through the national data basis and through consultation with other agencies so we can ensure that we seek to locate a home in a positive and safe area before securing the accommodation.

The accommodations on offer are;

​

  • Ofsted regulated Therapeutic Children's homes providing homes for children aged 6 to 18 years old. The homes range from solo occupancy to Three bedded homes and are currently located in Bedford and Luton. We are able to accept high needs and emergency referrals. The homes are able to support EBD and we have a Psychotherapist visiting each child weekly. The staff team also work closely with our in house therapists to deliver cognitive therapy to the children through the entire staffing team and at a consistently high standard.

  • Ofsted regulated supported living homes with 24 hours staff support in place to suitable referrals . We also have available one to one, solo occupancy, 24 hour staffed homes for more complex young people. All of our homes are homely and domestic in appearance, furnished to a high standard and nurturing to the young people. The staff sleep in the home rather than being wake during night, unless a young persons needs require this level of support due to crisis. The young people receive a number of key work sessions each week as well as regular activities on offer included in the price. The young person’s social worker will also receive weekly and monthly updates on the progress and interaction of the young person referred.

  • 18+ unstaffed provisions, both solo and shared homes with the option of outreach support which will be tailored and provided to the level of the young persons needs. The individual solo occupancy accommodation provided will be a fully furnished, self contained one bedroom accommodation with their facilities consisting of all white goods and small kitchen essentials. Bedding, towels and kitchenware necessities will also be provided.

Athena have an extensive policies and procedures, statement of purpose for each individual service and extensive insurance policies in place. If you are a professional and would like a copy of any of these for placement purposes please do not hesitate to ask and we will happily forward a copy.

Once the child or young person has moved into their new home they will be assisted in decorating and personalising the accommodation to create a sense of achievement and belonging. This will also encourage the child or young person to create ownership of their new accommodation that they can be proud of and will encourage them to continue in their path of achievements.
