Accommodation
Athena offers young people housing; providing accommodation, and 24 hour support, 365 days a year. With qualified support workers, and a dedicated key worker, we provide support in specific areas for care leavers, asylum seekers, young offenders, complex mental health, young people at risk of homelessness, young people in care and young parents.
Athena has access to accommodation across a number of regions and has come to realise that the central element of providing a quality caring environment is promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young people and we believe the location in vital. In ensuring this, Athena will risk assess every area through national data basis and police crime rate information that we seek to locate a home before securing the accommodation.
The accommodations on offer range from shared homes with a maximum of five young people, semi-independent homes with no more than six young people available to suitable referrals or if deemed more appropriate and if the young person is ready they will be placed in their own one bedroom accommodation and outreach support will be tailored and provided to the level of their needs. We also have available one to one, solo occupancy, 24 hour staffed homes for more complex young people.
All of our shared homes are furnished to a high standard and have a therapeutic approach to offer stable and consistent care through our 24 hour staff on site. These staff are sleep-in staff to achieve the feel of a family home rather than the thought of strangers or security guards wondering around the property at night. This is with the exception of our parenting assessment centre that has qualified and experience
staff awake 24 hours and able to support the new parents through the night and in times of crises when they most need it. The staff team work closely with psychologists and therapists to deliver cognitive therapy to the young people at a consistently high standard. The young people receive a number of key work sessions each week as well as regular activities on offer included in the price. The young person’s social worker will also receive weekly and monthly updates on the progress and interaction of the young person referred.
Athena have an extensive policies and procedures, statement of purpose for each individual multi-occupancy home and extensive insurance policies in place. If you are a professional and would like a copy of any of these for placement purposes please do not hesitate to ask and we will happily forward a copy.
The individual solo occupancy accommodation provided will be a fully furnished, self contained one bedroom accommodation with their facilities consisting of all white goods and small kitchen essentials. Bedding, towels and kitchenware necessities will also be provided. Once the young person has moved into their new home they will be assisted in decorating and personalising the accommodation to create a sense of achievement and belonging. This will also encourage the young person to create ownership of their new accommodation that they can be proud of and will encourage them to continue in their path of achievements.
